Portugal has good weather all year round, making it a great destination any time. But choosing the best time to visit really depends on what you plan to do whilst you are there.
If you are planning a city break to somewhere such as Lisbon or Porto, then late spring (April to June) and early fall (September to October) would be ideal. During these months, the weather is pleasantly mild, temperatures are comfortable for exploring cities, and popular tourist destinations are less crowded than in the peak summer season.
Craving some beach time along the golden shores and the southern regions such as the Algarve are calling your name? Then, you can comfortably head here any time between April and October. However, keep in mind that the temperature can be pretty unforgiving in the summer months (July and August), reaching above 30°C daily.
Food: Portugal's culinary scene effortlessly blends tradition and innovation and boasts bold fusions of flavour and delicious, delicate desserts. From exquisite seafood dishes like Bacalhau, a versatile salted codfish dish, to the world-famous Pastel de Nata, a custard tart with a crispy crust that perfectly captures the essence of Portuguese pastry artistry.
Pair all of that with iconic local wines, and Portugal will have you filled to the brim with mouthwatering dishes throughout the day.
Culture: Portugal's culture is a fascinating combination of its rich history, vibrant traditions, and warm hospitality. It is a country that warmly welcomes visitors to experience its Mediterranean charm and get involved in its many traditions, ranging from the soulful musical genre of Fado that expresses tales of longing to lively festivals, such as Carnival and Festa de São João.
Portugal's rich blend of past and present is reflected in its vibrant culture, which is worth exploring.
